My approach

I practice therapy primarily from a psychodynamic, relational approach informed by the following tenets:

  • The ways in which we’ve been deeply wounded form an unconscious blueprint to navigating our present.

  • Our past relationships shape our current interpersonal patterns, challenges, defense mechanisms, and our understanding of ourselves and our world.

  • A large part of healing consists of understanding how our past may be actively influencing our present.

Additionally, I lean on learnings from internal family systems therapy, mindfulness, trauma-informed theories, and emotion-focused therapy.

Our work together will emphasize bringing greater awareness of the unconscious and boldly determining pathways to authenticity and healing. Ultimately, I strive to always hold and witness my clients’ pain and to compassionately + cooperatively untangle what my client may need to work to accept vs change.

Couples

Couples, families, loved ones can find themselves entangled in painful relational patterns with each other. And these patterns hold within them your respective past wounds and defenses. It’s painful when conflict with your loved one reminds you of the ways you were critically hurt in the past. You might be here because you feel there is an unwelcome third party in your relationship.
